Experience, Empathy, and Vision for the Bench
For more than twenty years, Anne Joynt has appeared in courtrooms across Western New York, standing with hard working men and women suffering from workplace injuries, survivors of child sexual assault, and families poisoned by toxins in their homes. Anne's legal experience and empathy working with people confronting some of the most difficult moments of their lives, has given her the vision of a bench that ensures everyone has a voice an a chance to be heard.

Medina born, Buffalo raised
Anne was born and raised in Medina, New York, with a Republican mother and a Democrat father. She learned early on that discussions and debates can be passionate but that respect and understanding are non-negotiables.
Anne brought the lessons of her youth with her as she went on to study at SUNY Geneseo, graduating magna cum laude from SUNY Geneseo, in 2002. She then attended SUNY Buffalo Law school, being accepted into the prestigious Order of Barristers national honor society, which recognizes graduating law students who have excelled in oral advocacy, trial advocacy, and brief writing.
Anne has never forgotten her roots forged in small town Medina or her love and commitment to community. Her membership and time spent on the Boards of the Women's Tap Fund, Center for Elder Law and Justice, Erie County Bar Association Aid to Indigent Prisoners Society, Inc., National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Women's Bar Association, Minority Bar Association, and the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library, have deepened Anne's understanding of the communities that she serves and her belief in meeting people where they are.

Anne is committed to the fundamental promise to apply the law based on the facts and rule appropriately. Anne's experience has shown her that a good judge knows justice comes in many forms, sometimes tough, sometimes merciful, but always based on the facts and the law.
Approach to the Bench:
A voice for all
While Anne’s father helped foster her interest in joining the legal profession, it was her community outreach, and her work as a trial lawyer that taught her that a fair judicial system begins by giving every party a meaningful opportunity to be heard. Anne's experience in sensitive and emotionally difficult cases taught her the importance of listening carefully and treating every person in the courtroom with dignity and respect.
Anne’s dedication to fairness, access, and a judicial system that operates while considering the impact of each decision on both the case and the community where the law exists comes comes down to a simple premise, if the heart of due process is the opportunity to be heard, than it is the responsibility of a judge to listen.
